Improving the Precision of Approximations in WCET Analysis for Multi-Core Processors
نویسنده
چکیده
The worst-case execution time (WCET) analysis for multicore processors is a challenge. An explicit consideration of all possible interference effects caused by the shared resources is in many cases combinatorially infeasible. Therefore, approximations are used to reduce this complexity. Current approaches to WCET analysis for multi-core processors are specific to particular ways of approximating the underlying system. Furthermore they are only applicable to rather restricted classes of processors. We identified a common methodology behind existing approaches and formalized it in a unified meta approach. Our meta approach is not restricted to a particular way of approximation. It allows to improve the precision of the obtained WCET bounds by incorporating properties of the system under consideration.

T-CREST: Time-predictable multi-core architecture for embedded systems
Real-time systems need time-predictable platforms to allow static analysis of the worst-case execution time (WCET). Standard multi-core processors are optimized for the average case and are hardly analyzable. Within the T-CREST project we propose novel solutions for time-predictable multi-core architectures that are optimized for the WCET instead of the average-case execution time. The resultin...
متن کاملAn Interference Matrix Based Approach to Bounding Worst-Case Inter-Thread Cache Interferences and WCET for Multi-Core Processors
Different cores typically share the last-level cache in a multi-core processor. Threads running on different cores may interfere with each other. Therefore, the multi-core worst-case execution time (WCET) an alyzer must be able to safely and accurately estimate the worst-case inter-thread cache interference. This is not supported by current WCET analysis techniques that manly focus on single th...
متن کاملHand Gestures Classification with Multi-Core DTW
Classifications of several gesture types are very helpful in several applications. This paper tries to address fast classifications of hand gestures using DTW over multi-core simple processors. We presented a methodology to distribute templates over multi-cores and then allow parallel execution of the classification. The results were presented to voting algorithm in which the majority vote was ...
متن کاملA Framework for the Optimization of the WCET of Programs on Multi-Core Processors
For a timing-critical system, it is mandatory to guarantee upper bounds on the execution times of its programs. Such bounds can be derived using worst-case execution time (WCET) analysis. WCET analysis for multi-core processors is challenging as the behavior of one processor core in general depends on the behavior of the other cores. A common option to reduce this dependency is the use of time ...
متن کاملT-crest: a Time-predictable Multi-core Platform for Aerospace Applications
Space systems are hard real-time systems, where the worst-case execution time (WCET) of tasks needs to be known to prove absence of deadline misses. For simple processor and memory architectures it is possible to statically derive a safe upper bound of the WCET. However, future requirements in more autonomous missions require more processing power. This increase in processing power is approache...
